In one of their weekly summaries, junior high students were asked, “Why do you think it is important to participate in homeroom?” Here are some of the answers:
- Sometimes there can be announcements and activities.
- To lend the homeroom teacher a hand.
- Cleaning the homeroom.
- Helping the “lit-luns.”
- It’s more fun when everyone participates.
- It is good to tell people what you’re going to do and how your day went.
- It is good to make friends with the people in your homeroom.
- You can learn about each other.
- You learn social skills.
- If you don’t, you spoil the fun for everyone.
- It is bonding.
- To get organized and collect your thoughts.
- Our homeroom is like our family.
- To feel part of the community.
- To solve problems.
- At the moment it is good because we are working on stuff.
- To be a role model for younger kids.
