Last week Jennifer and the middle level language arts students read Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs, by Judi Barrett. They decided it would be fun to make their own town of Chewand swallow. They used cooperation and teamwork, along with graham crackers, cheese slices, and pretzels, with peanut butter mortar, gum drops (which made a pretty garden), and popcorn bushes. After the town was complete, they invited other students to help them eat it (without using hands). They are looking forward to a field trip to see the new movie Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs on the day it opens. They will then have the traditional middle level debate: Was the book or the movie better? We’ll let you know what they decide.
