<description>For the new flagpole, the phrase &quot;ready for a flag&quot; suggests there should
be a flag design event of some kind -- an art class project, a sewing project,
or perhaps a community-wide design competition where the winner gets to have
their flag &quot;built&quot; and flown! And the discussion of criteria for judging one
better than another could be rewarding in itself.
A few questions tumble into mind:
What&#039;s the history of flags and pennants and other things that fly decoratively
in the wind? Could a spinning windsock be flown from the flagpole? How much force is
generated at the end of a flag when it whips around, and why to the edges of flags get
frayed so easily? How are flags related to chauvinism, patriotism, and group identity?
What are some EXTREME flags? Should the flagpole be illuminated at night? Could the
pole itself be painted as part of the design opportunity? What kind of base or &quot;ground event&quot; could contribute to the connection of the pole with its surroundings? Is the top of the flagpole a good place for an anemometer? Could an anemometer wirelessly transmit the current wind velocity to a School computer?
Also, who would the judges be?
-- or could it be done by online voting by the community?

<description>We welcome interested parents to come tour the school! Just call Nancy at 297-7278 or e-mail her at info@kinoschool.org. She&#039;ll set up a time when she can give you a tour and answer your questions. The application process is described at http://www.kinoschool.org/about/faq/ (towards the bottom of the page).
