Mary Lou Tucker

Mary Lou Tucker has been teaching at Kino since 1978.   This year she will be volunteering at Kino as much as she feels like it, which means she plans to be here on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.  She will be subbing for homeroom teachers and working one-on-one with students in math, reading, and writing

At last year’s surprise 80th birthday party for Mary Lou, Mary Jane said:

“Over the years Mary Lou has played thousands of games of Monopoly, Uno, and dominoes. She is never too tired to play cards or a board game. I’ve heard rumors that she’s hard to beat, and I’ve heard other rumors that she cheats.

Mary Lou has taught math to generations of students. But Mary Lou has taught us much more than math. She has taught how to keep going even when you are tired; that there is sadness in life, but joy when you seek it. She goes out of her way for her friends without hesitation; she volunteers at every Kino event; she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Most of all she enjoys kids — you — and all who have come before you and
hopefully many more years of students to come.”
