Jack Prohaska

Staff & Bats_082109_0022Jack has been in and out of Kino — as a parent and a teacher — for twenty-five years. He has been involved in the alternative school movement since the early 70s.

For most of his career, Jack has been a licensed clinical social worker/therapist, with a handful of initials after his name: CSW, LCSW, and MSW. He worked mostly with adolescents and their families. He continues to have a small private practice and brings his experience and wisdom to bear in helping kids here at Kino.

In addition to having a homeroom, Jack teaches junior high and high school writing, psychology, field biology, and interesting things like pirates and recent history. He is also teaches evening classes for Kino parents about parenting and Kino’s educational philosophy.

In his spare time, Jack likes to sail, scuba dive, hike, and play with cars.  He has two sons, both of whom are Kino graduates.
