Al first came to Kino as a student teacher in 2008. She already had extensive experience working with younger children and was then returning to graduate school. Since then, she has continued to volunteer at Kino and has been awarded a master’s degree in education by Prescott College. Her thesis: “How Children’s Free Choice Play Supports 21st Century
Learning Skills.”
Al teaches primary math, middle level math and language arts, and presents students with integrated design challenges every week.
